So the most unreliable car I own, is currently the most reliable car I own. So for those of you who have been following along, my 2005 Volvo V70R has had a string of bad luck

Kinja'd!!!

As seen here yet again on a tow truck (off from one repair place to Volvo , turns out it doesn’t run in limp mode first repair shop)

So Because my wife needs the nice relatively new fiesta (2012); I have been hauling around in a 24 old hunk of Swedish steel also known as my 1991 Volvo 740.

I traded a ‘98 wagon for it because I couldn’t get my 98 thru emissions in the state of Maryland.

So first lets talk about the bad things about my 740, first and foremost: the speedometer doesn’t work, along with the tachometer; has been uh entertaining to drive around. The radio wasn’t even attempted to be connected. The previous owner for some reason hot glued the windows shut, & since the a/c doesn’t work I had to fix that. Head liner is gone, and the sunroof doesn’t open. Also the exhaust leaked so bad I cut it off, and the catalytic converter decided to free it’s self some where in DC; so I’m riding around with a 30 auto zone muffled pumping fumes out right under the car, but weirdly, it’s not to loud. Finally the seats are torn to tatters, but there still not to bad to sit on.

So that’s the bad, now here’s the good.

IT WORKS! I mean really with out this car I would be sh!t out of luck. It runs smoothly and at highway speeds its remarkable how composed this car is. It tracks straight and true. The little tractor motor I-4 runs great, it does leak a little oil, and I should probably change of some time soon. The transmission still shifts smooth, I think the overdrive works. But with out a working tachometer I have no real way to know. The 3 gauges that do work in the car are, gas, engine temperature, and the clock!

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

For those of you wondering, I tell speed on an app I have on my phone, pair it with a nice set of head phones and I now have a radio again.

I know it’s old and I shouldn’t trust it as much as I do. But the car that should have fallen apart is the one that keeps going. This is more of a thank you to the car, then a review, so thanks little tractor, or donkey or old blue or “OB” depending on who you talk to.

Thanks a million little Volvo, I love you too.

you should be able to tell if your overdrive works by calculating your mpgs on the highway... or hell... just count shifts.

Yeah, I COULD caculated mpg, but I have no control. Also I drive like a bat out of hell so it’s gonna be bad no matter what.

Also yeah I should probably just count shifts
